Summer is fast approaching for some and for many in the country they’re already in the thick of it! That can mean only one thing; the date we set ourselves to have the “ultimate beach body” is probably right around the corner and, I don’t know about you, but I am NOT ready.

But it’s okay, don’t panic. I have done some research and I’m here to say it’s not too late. With one simple kitchen appliance, you can turn it around and get in shape in time for summer, the healthy way. What’s the appliance? I hear you ask; well, it’s as simple as a juicer.

Juicing fruits and vegetables must be the easiest way to get all the nutrients and vitamins that your body needs to be healthy and happy. If you’re trying to get in shape, getting the right nutrients is vital but the extensive A-Z dictionary of vitamins can feel very daunting.

Here are some ideas of great juices that will give you a boost of the right vitamins – and help you get that “ready for the beach body” in no time (along with a bit of exercise and eating right the rest of the day of course).

The Summer Fruits Juice

Summer is here and that can mean only one thing; barbecues! No, I’m joking. It means summer fruits are back! There’s nothing more refreshing then juicing up some of your favorite summer fruits and better yet, it’ll be packed with important vitamins to get you that bikini body. Choose your favorite fruits from this list and give them a juice:

  • Strawberries: full of vitamin C and manganese
  • Mangoes: packed with vitamin C and A
  • Watermelon: good source of vitamin C and pantothenic acid as well as simply refreshing!
  • Lemon: great for digestion, cleansing and weight loss

If there are any other fruits you love, throw them in too! And don’t forget about the vegetables. Beets or carrots add a great sweet taste to any juice.

The Pack a Punch Juice

If you’re trying to incorporate some more exercise into your regime, firstly I salute you! Juice these ingredients together and give your workout a healthy boost:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 an apple
  • 1 tbsp of spirulina
  • A few almonds
  • 2 tbsp oats
  • Almond milk to taste/thicken
  • OR water to taste/thin

Of course this is just a guideline; mix up the quantities of different ingredients to match your tastes!

The Immune System Reload Juice

I hope you’re not, but if you are feeling under the weather this summer, you need this juice in your life. It’s packed full of vitamins A, B, C, manganese, zinc and a bunch of other immune boosting minerals. Try this juice out if you’re not feeling great (or want to help prevent a summer cold right before your trip to the beach!):

  • 2 carrots
  • 1 apple of your choice
  • 1 orange
  • A squeeze of lemon

This juice is a great source of potassium, folic acid, vitamin A, B-6 and C so you should feel the benefits to your immune system and hopefully get well soon!

Ultimately, if you decide to start making fresh juices, you will reap the benefits within a couple of weeks or maybe even sooner! ! Our body needs a whole spectrum of vitamins and minerals to work at its optimum and when your body’s working at its optimum, you’ll feel the difference. It’ll also boost your metabolism which can help shift those last few pounds before bikini season. Win-win!

If you haven’t got a juicer yet but want to make one of these delicious juices, you can always use your trusty countertop blender instead – but results will not be the same, they are simply better equipped for making smoothies (which also pack a ton of nutrients – as long as you don’t use too much sugar if you are trying to get ready for the beach). Just remember to add some form of liquid to help the blender along its way. I find oat or almond milk is tasty or just regular water will do the trick.

If you really are trying to live a healthier lifestyle, (for good, not just for summer), then you must know the benefits of getting regular exercise. You might not have room for an entire home gym in your house but a yoga mat and instructional DVD would do wonders. Just 30 minutes of exercise a day, coupled with some nutrient-packed juices and you can have any beach body you desire!
