Experience the drama and intrigue of unseen forces with this classic Ouija board brought to you by licensed Hasbro dealer, Winning Moves. It comes with a wooden board and a plastic triangle with a magnifying “peep” hole.
By the way, there are a wide variety of talking boards out there, but only Hasbro now owns the original William Fuld trademark for "Ouija".
Hailing from the United Kingdom, Nemesis Now features Gothic, Fantasy, and Alternative items which inspire and liberate the potential of those who use their products. Each item is lovingly designed by their team of artists with a mystical feel to the art that is quite engaging.
A durable and attractive wooden Ouija board, better known as a “Spirit Board”, Nemesis offers this classically designed Ouija board with a disclaimer “…we cannot guarantee the accuracy or outcome of any of the spells”, spooky, huh!? They recommend this board solely for those who are eighteen years and older, and urge the users to engage with it responsibly.
Because Nemesis Now takes such pride in the craftsmanship of their items, the planchette, which is the centerpiece that moves around the board to answer your questions, has a truly lovely and unique design.
Rather than a plastic triangle, this planchette is made of wood, and forms the shape of a heart. It has an intricate swirling design against a black backdrop, courtesy of the Nemesis artisans, who add whimsy and intrigue to this classic Ouija board.
Manufactured by long-standing board game company Parker Brothers, this William Fuld Mystifying Oracle board takes us back in time to a bygone era.
William Fuld and his brother Isaac took over production of the recently created Ouija board from the Kennard Novelty Company in 1898. Popularized by William Fuld and his brother, the Ouija board continued to sell like hotcakes over the years. The classic Ouija board is still in production by several companies, including Parker Brothers, who are featuring the 1992 edition here.
A vintage set complete with a plastic planchette which houses a circular viewing glass, this board has the larger dimensions expected from the older Ouija board versions. It is 18.3 inches wide x 12.1 feet long, and is crafted from wood.
The recommended age for Ouija boards varies depending on the seller; this one is for 12 years and up.
Note: Even though we are using the word "ouija" here, William Fuld actually sold the trademark to Hasbro (who actually sued Parker Brothers, which is why they had to change the name of their version of the game board).
Keeping your imagination alive and well is Fantasy Gifts, a chain of metaphysical and New Age shops with fantastical creations on offer. Anything from scrolls to incense burners and even a wizard tree can be found here, with a wizard’s face carved into the bark.
Designed by Lisa Parker, this octagonal-shaped Ouija board is not your average affair. It is covered in glass, and has a Tree of Life-designed planchette. The letters follow the outside of the board in a circular pattern, with the numbers on the inside.
Other design elements to this pentagram Ouija board include Celtic knots, green ivy, and a black cat in the center. This is truly a one-of-a-kind Ouija board, etched with amazing detail.
According to believers of the occult, the power of the pentacle protects the spirit board from evil. It also has an inscription on the bottom which explains steps to take further guard against evil.
This Fantasy Gifts Ouija board is made from hand-painted cold-cast resin, and has a width of fourteen inches.
A perfectly unique gift shop, Zeckos searches the globe for unexpected items such as wrought iron art stands, Celtic knot pendants, and steampunk art to suit customers who are looking for something a little different.
One of their stand-out pieces is the midnight-blue wolf Ouija board designed by Lisa Parker. It’s called “The Wild One” and delivers a lovely mystique with a blue-eyed wolf in the center.
Lisa Parker is a fantasy artist who has so beautifully created the wolf design for this Ouija board that it would make a lovely gift for any metaphysical person. This spirit board comes with a background of stars, and a black planchette with a circular wreath of Celtic knots.
A unique Ouija board, this board comes in a square shape that is fifteen by fifteen inches.
We’re sitting round the Ouija board, all slightly anxious about the fact that we’re going through with this crazy scheme. Before we started, we got a glass of water to calm our nerves, said a prayer and then focused on the board. We started slowly and cautiously, afraid we might upset a spirit.
“Hello, spirits. We’re here to talk to you.” Nothing. We waited, unsure of what to say next. As we looked around the circle, searching for the next question, all our fingers placed on the planchette, it started to move smoothly across the board.
“H-E-L-L-O”
We all looked silently at each other; you could see the excitement, as we had finally found a spirit to talk to. We asked the spirit what its name was.
“B-R-A-N-D-O-N B-U-R-L-S-W-O-R-T-H.” We literally freaked out, the best football player in history was speaking to us. We started to ask Brandon all these questions about his favorite game and his success. I couldn’t believe our luck; I’ve always loved Brandon! Towards the end I decided to ask a question that had been on my mind, but I felt a bit silly asking it.
“Do you think that I could make it to be as big as you?” The planchette started moving again and my heart was thumping against my chest.
“S-O-R-R-Y D-U-D-E.” My heart started to sink; I know it’s silly, but it would have meant so much to me if he’d said yes. But the planchette hadn’t stopped moving.
“I A-M N-O-T B-R-A-N-D-O-N,” Wait, what? “I W-A-S B-O-R-E-D. I W-A-N-T-E-D T-O J-O-K-E A-R-O-U-N-D. N-I-C-E M-E-E-T-I-N-G Y-O-U.”
And the planchette didn’t move again, no matter how many questions we asked it! So even though I’m a bit embarrassed we got trolled by a spirit, I can’t help but laugh every time I tell the story! It beats any other board game I’ve played!
You can purchase a well-made Ouija board with a planchette from around $30 to $90. The price depends on what the board is made of, the design and the brand. Older, more traditional brands like William Fuld, with classic markings, will usually cost more. However, the options at the lower end of the range are still well made, and have beautiful, intricate illustrations that may be preferable for some. If you want the true, old-style Ouija board experience, then don’t be swayed by the cheap Ouija boards, as the cheap designs can ruin the overall atmosphere for this unique game.
So, you know you want to buy a Ouija board, but you need some enlightenment on what to look for to find the best one. Well, we can be your special guidance.
Here are some things to think about before putting your money where your mouth is:
Want to know more about the options you have? Read on below.
Material
Wood is the traditional material that a Ouija board would be made of, and it’s still often used to make them nowadays. However, you can also choose from board or resin, with options for a protective top, such as glass, to keep it in good condition for a long time. The material doesn’t affect your connection with the spirits, so it just depends on what you would prefer to use.
Design
Ouija boards now come in all shapes and sizes; they usually come in a rectangle shape but you can also get them in a pentagram shape or other designs. So if you want to shake things up, go for something a little different.
Planchette
The planchette is the indicator in the middle that lets the spirit communicate with you by moving it around the board to spell out words or say yes and no. They are usually made of plastic or wood with a hole in the middle to center the letter that is being chosen. But don’t choose with haste; you can get beautiful Celtic designs, hearts or intricate teardrops to help you talk to the spirit that comes forward.
Size
The size can range from 16 square inches to 15 by 10 inches and everything in between. If you know you want to share this experience with a few people at one time, a bigger board is better so that everyone can get in on the action and see the responses of the sprit. If you don’t think you have that much space or just want a more intimate experience, go for slightly smaller dimensions.
